Mattesons Liver sausage

Post by charliechops » Sat Dec 18, 2004 8:03 pm

I think it was Mattessons. They used to make a liver sausage in a black pudding type tube for making sandwiches. I used to buy one and eat it straight out of the packet, delicious.

Sainsbury's liver sausage was good and even better when fried for breakfast. You can still get it in some stores.
Sainsbury's Pork Breakfast Sausage is still one of my favourites. I can still remember going into Sainsburys, before it was a supermarket, with my mum and seeing it being sliced off the whole sausage. You then had to peel the paper skin off before you could eat it. I'm sure it tasted better then.

OOPS I'm showing my age, again.

"Try saying Mattessons without saying Mmmmmmmmm...!"

Did Matthesons make the "potted meat" as my nan used to call it, it had a white ceramic dish with a metal lid? At primary school the empty pots were always used for hamster food or p.v.a. glue.

Yeah, you could use them for storing anything... I remember using them for paper clips and drawing pins.
