Ar now, Rumberlows were bought by the Thorne group, who owned most of the early TV rental companys, and as brown goods got cheaper and more reliable people no longer rented their goods but bought them, so most if not all rental companys went to the wall, Vision Hire (owned by Phillips in the early days) tryed to come back as Service Scope, did'nt last long.

Now Rediffusion, to cut a very long story short, they started to slow down when they lost out to LWT and Thames, still made TV programs though, and they were still making and selling Tele's 'till the early '80's with their mark 4 I think, the last Rediffusion company to trade was Rediffusion Communication doing mainly CCTV like town centres (Dover, Brighton Newbury, Romford and many many more) also Banks. Then Initial/Rentokil (who bought B.E.T.) stopped using the name in January 1998.

More fool them.

PS Victor Lewis Smith now owns the "Rediffusion" name.

Well you did ask.

Yes, I remember Ketts. They had what were then very swish modern BEDFORD vans (with a big sliding door at the front) that were a slightly fluorescent yellow. Those were the days indeed. They were still going strong when BBC2 was introduced in 1964.
